Morning Meeting?

At 8:00 am, every weekday morning we gather together around the picnic tables in the back of base to have a quick check in, meet new faces, learn about the work of staff and visitors on base, and learn about key information about your stay including what’s for dinner. Newcomers are encouraged to share a joke at their first morning meeting.

Can I cancel my reservations?

We aim to be flexible for your changing plans and reservations, but your contributions allow us to continue our programs. Therefore for planning and projections it is useful to know what is incoming. In order for us to help plan and commit to our programmatic work, we have different cancelation policies for short term, large groups and long term.

Short Term: For those who are staying two(2) weeks or less you may cancel your reservation for a full refund with a one(1) week notice. Those cancelations made less than a week in advance will only receive a 50% refund unless you are part of a large group.

Large Groups: For groups of 5 or more we understand that situations change. Any changes or cancellations in your reservation reducing the number of guests need to be made 1 month in advance. Changes made less than 1 month will be changed a 30% fee on the difference.

Long term: For those staying with us for 2 weeks or longer any change or cancelation should be made at least 1 month in advance. Changes made less than 1 month will be changed a 30% fee on the difference.

For other meals, guests are on their own and are welcome to use the communal kitchen (see notes about the kitchen below) or head to a restaurant or local street vendor. There is a grocery store (Stop n’ Go) just a little over a km away.

Note about the kitchen:

As a coworking space as well as a hostel, the kitchen is shared between staff and guests. There is one refrigerator in the kitchen where guests can store food they have purchased and labeled. There is a shared space in the kitchen for dry goods as well. Please label all food clearly!

What kind of shared facilities are there on base?

There are communal showers on the back of base. There are two compostable toilets and a biogas toilet available for our guests. Feel free to ask more about these technologies which change toilet waste into reusable energies.

What are the quiet hours?

Our quiet hours are from 10:30 pm - 8 am on weekdays and 10:30 pm - 9 am on weekends. We love that people gather in the evening, but please be considerate of each other on base. People are here for various reasons whether it is volunteering, working or just exploring Haiti. During quite hours, keep your voices down in the hallways and loud activities should move to the workshop area. Thank you!

Wait so I'm really welcome to join in any of the activities happening?

That's the whole point :). If there are events, movies, dinners, or discussions, we would love for you to join. If you have any questions or need more information ask a member of staff.
