Red Victorian Lecture: "Learning From Socialist Utopias: Communes And Summer Camps As Educational Weapons"

Tue Dec 13 8 PM until 10:30 PM , Red Victorian

Organized by Jessica Angel, Zarinah Agnew

Having recently graduated from the Yale School of Architecture, Jessica Angel presents her investigation into communal living and summer camps. For the past couple of months she has been living at the Embassy and working at GAKKO, an organization that focuses on education and creates experimental summer camps around the world every year. In light of the recent elections, she believes even more in intentional communities as a powerful weapon for changing mindsets. In this lecture, she will present the work done in her final design studio at Yale and her current observations on communes and summer camps. She believes that both communities can learn from each other, as well as from case studies of previous socialist utopias.

Join us for an evening of learning followed by a lively discussion! Doors at 8pm, talk begins at 8.30pm on the dot. Suggested donation is $5. We provide free in house childcare at all our events, drop us a line if you would like to make use of this service :)
